On March 31, 2023, His Beatitude Metropolitan Sawa of Warsaw and All Poland sent a letter to the rector of the Kyiv Theological Academy and Seminary, Archbishop Sylvester of Bilohorodka, in which he expressed support for the Lavra and the Kyiv Theological Schools.
Metropolitan Sawa wrote that "the Polish Orthodox Church has always advocated for the canonicity of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church".
“What is happening today to the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, other monastic centres, temples and your Academy is an expression of great enslavement and persecution of the Church,” the hierarch stressed.
“We mourn, offer prayers and join all who offer prayers and endure persecution. Jesus Christ said: I was persecuted and you will be persecuted (John 15:20), but remember: I have overcome the world (John 16:33). We spiritually unite with the monks of the Kyiv Caves Lavra and all those who suffer, deeply believing that Christ's ‘sun will shine in your window too’," wrote Metropolitan Savva on behalf of the Polish Orthodox Church.
As reported, Metropolitan Joanikije of Montenegro and Littoral said the godless authorities are taking away the sanctuary of Orthodoxy.
