On 7 April 2023, Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra lawyer Priest Nikita Chekman said that the monastery had not announced the collection of "financial aid".

On his Telegram channel, the priest wrote that "recently, information has been circulating in social networks, in particular Telegram channels, on the organisation of fundraising aimed allegedly at 'financial assistance' to the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra."

"We inform you that the Monastery's brotherhood has nothing to do with it," he stressed.

According to the Lavra lawyer, such "fundraisers" are "organised by swindlers in order to easily seize funds from people convinced that they are making donations to the religious community".

He also did not rule out that these "fundraisings" and the dissemination of viral advertisements about them were "aimed at causing reputational damage to the Monastery with the subsequent accusation of 'soliciting funds from parishioners'".

The Lavra lawyer urged everyone to check the information carefully and not to transfer funds to fraudsters.

As reported, the UOC denied the information about the Primate's Russian passport.
