On April 19, 2023, the lawyer of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, Priest Nikita Chekman, stated that the actions of the commission of the Ministry of Culture on the territory of the monastery were illegal.
The Lavra’s lawyer believes that there is currently an “outrage” in the monastery.
“Accompanied by the police, they broke the locks and illegally sealed Building 39. Thus, the police got involved in the unlawful actions the Reserve, thereby committing an offense,” Father Nikita said.
He reminded law enforcement officials that "there are many cases in court, and nothing can be done without a court decision," adding that a statement about their actions would be considered by the State Bureau of Investigation.
The lawyer said that two applications were filed against the actions of the Reserve employees, as well as the actions of the police, which blocked the buildings of the Lavra without any justification.
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that with the help of grinders and without any documents, the commission of the Ministry of Culture sealed the gallery of the Lavra.
