On May 19, 2023, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople thanked Archbishop Ieronymos, the Primate of the Greek Orthodox Church, for the material support provided to the Phanar worldwide.

During his visit to Athens, the head of the Phanar addressed Archbishop Ieronymos, acknowledging "the great love you have always had for the Ecumenical Patriarchate and your respect for it as the common Mother Church of all of us."

"We have, of course, much material evidence of your sincere feelings. And we assure you that you also enjoy great and extensive love and deep gratitude from us personally, as well as from all the brothers living together at the Phanar," said Patriarch Bartholomew.

He specifically thanked Archbishop Ieronymos "for covering the expenses of the salaries of many clergy members sent to economically weak provinces of the Throne around the world."

"Without this generous contribution, the work of these metropolises would have been extremely problematic," emphasized the head of the Phanar.

Patriarch Bartholomew expressed gratitude for the "constant and extraordinary assistance of the Church of Greece in our missionary efforts in Asia and other countries, which is rendered with blessings and support" from Archbishop Ieronymos.

As reported, the head of the Church of Greece, commenting on the support of the Phanar in the Ukrainian question, stated, "We are a family".
