Court extends house arrest of Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra abbot

On 29 May 2023, the Solomenskyy District Court of Kyiv extended house arrest for 30 days for Metropolitan Pavel, the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra abbot, the lawyer of the UOC hierarch, Archpriest Nikita Chekman, told the UOJ.

The court ordered Metropolitan Pavel to wear an electronic bracelet and banned him from leaving his place of residence in the village of Voronkiv in the Kyiv region until July 1, 2023.

Archpriest Nikita Chekman said that the defence side will appeal against the Solomenskyy Court's ruling.

As reported, Metropolitan Pavel's lawyer said that the suspicion served to the Lavra abbot was unfounded.

Earlier Metropolitan Pavel appealed to the Office of the Ombudsman over the violation of his rights.
