Verkhovna Rada legalizes cannabis

On July 13, 2023, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine voted to legalize the use of cannabis for medical purposes. This was announced by MP of Ukraine Yaroslav Zheleznyak.

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine approved the legalization of medical cannabis. The corresponding bill No. 7457 was supported in the first reading.

The bill was adopted as a basis by 268 votes. Judging by its name, it is intended to legalize the circulation of plants of the hemp genus (cannabis) for medical, industrial purposes, scientific and and technical activities.

The MP wrote that 183 deputies from Servant of the People, 10 from Eurosolidarity, 1 from Batkivshchyna, 16 from Platform for Life, 19 from the Holos party, 11 from Vidrodzhennia, 8 from the For the Future party, 12 from the Dovira party, and 8 non-factional deputies.

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that the Council of Churches called on the Rada not to adopt a law on medical cannabis.
