On October 2, 2020, representatives of the Patriarchate of Constantinople said that there is no question of autocephaly for the Church of Skopje but of healing a schism, according to the Orthodox Times.

In an interview with the National Herald, Phanar representatives stressed that at the moment “there is no question of autocephaly for the Church of Skopje but of healing a schism,” for which, in their opinion, “everyone has a sacred debt”.

The Phanariots recalled the Bulgarian schism, as well as the events "in the wider area of the Provinces of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Northern Greece."

They also said that they had sent communications to the Serbian Patriarchate, but the latter has not responded so far.

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that the head of the Phanar has no intention of granting autocephaly to the schismatics of Macedonia.
