On July 28, 2023, on the Day of the Baptism of Rus', MPs will consider bill No. 8371, which provides for the prohibition of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. This information was reported to the UOJ by a source in the Verkhovna Rada.

According to the source, the bill was added last to the agenda for July 28.

“The bill has been submitted for consideration, but it is not certain whether they will have time to consider it,” he said.

The source assured that the authorities do not yet have the necessary votes to put the bill to a vote for its adoption in the first reading.

The initiator of the draft law "On Amendments to Certain Laws of Ukraine on the Activities of Religious Organizations in Ukraine" is the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmygal.

As the UOJ reported, the Rada will soon pass a bill to outlaw the UOC.
