A parishioner of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Lydia, commented on the misconduct of a group of activists who shout through loudspeakers and disrupt the prayers of UOC believers at the Lavra. She explained that the hooligans from the OCU insult, curse, and even threaten the faithful with death while the police turn a blind eye. She made these comments in a statement published on the YouTube channel "Tetiana Tsaruk. In Search of Truth."
Lydia is convinced that these individuals are acting so brazenly with the tacit approval of the authorities.
"This happens constantly; every evening there's screaming and shouting here. I told the police yesterday – if something like this happened near a Jewish synagogue, the president would be immediately there in his car," Lydia stated.
The parishioner revealed that during one recent incident, activists turned on a loudspeaker right during the reading of an akathist and shouted insults at the believers and clergy of the Church.
She also noted that law enforcement does nothing to stop the misconduct of the activists; instead, they just smile.
"The police stand there, hands folded on their chests, and they smile. It means someone has given them instructions to do nothing," she added.
As previously reported, near the Lavra, a police officer disrupted a prayer with a sacrilegious song about Christ.
