On 21 September 2023, more than 1,000 parishioners of the Church of the Nativity of the Mother of God (UOC) of Kamin-Kashyrskyi prayed near the walls of their temple, reports the official website of the Volyn Eparchy.
On the feast of the Nativity of the Mother of God, more than a thousand parishioners of the temple, together with Metropolitan Nathanael of Volyn and Lutsk, in addition to their patron’s day, prayerfully celebrated the 300th anniversary of the temple.
His Eminence was concelebrated by Archpriest Bohdan Andriychuk, the dean of the Alekseevsky district, Archpriest Yuri Mikhailov, rector of the parish, Archimandrite Paisius (Khomich), the eparchy’s chancellor, and clerics of the eparchy.
At the Little Entrance, the head of the eparchy honoured the rector of the church with a church award.
During the service, they prayed for peace in the Ukrainian land, that the Lord would keep the desperate and send blessings to people of goodwill who help those in need.
The Archpastor asked God to grant mercy to the Ukrainian people, to strengthen the courage of the soldiers, to release the captives, to heal the sick and shelter those who are deprived of a home.
At the end of the service, Vladyka Nathanael addressed the faithful with a word of sermon, in which he reminded the flock of the Church tradition about the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The Archpastor especially drew the believers’ attention to the patience of the Virgin Mary's parents, which bore such great fruit – the Daughter who became God's Mother. "The more valuable the gift, the more patient the prayer should be," he emphasised.
In conclusion, Metropolitan Nathanael congratulated the community of the temple on the anniversary, especially thanking the believers for their strong faith.
As reported, the Kamin-Kashyrskyi community was transferred to the OCU, while the rector went to the front.
