The "Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra" Reserve has announced the completion of the field archaeological season, reports the Reserve's press service on Facebook.

Archaeologists conducted excavations in the Metropolitan's Garden of the Lavra, during which they discovered an amber hoard weighing approximately half a kilogram, said Serhiy Taranenko, the head of the archaeological research sector of the National Reserve "Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra" to the resource "Facts".

According to him, the amber was found in layers dating back to the 14th-15th centuries. Taranenko also mentioned that military personnel and chaplains took part in the excavations as part of the rehabilitation program for the military called "Spiritual Recovery through Culture".

As reported, a month after the authorities closed the Lower Lavra to believers, access to the Caves has become fee-paying ranging from 150 to 1500 hryvnias.
