The rector of the UOC Uzhhorod Cathedral, Archpriest Dimitri Sydor, commented on the adoption by the Rada of the bill on the UOC ban. A video of the priest’s words is published on the cathedral’s YouTube channel.
According to him, the dangerous thing about the adopted bill is that with its help it has been used to 'convince people that we are all outlawed'.
"We’ve never imagined that there could be such a thing in the state – that all-Ukrainian propaganda would outlaw us, the citizens of Ukraine, by the law of the Verkhovna Rada," the priest says.
He states that since the Verkhovna Rada has decided to fight the entire Church, it means that the deputies declared that they are godless people.
Separately, the archpriest commented on the attitude to the persecution of the UOC by other denominations of Ukraine.
"Now, when our temples are beaten in Ukraine, for some reason other religions are silent: both Greek Catholics, Catholics, and Protestants. Not only that, they shout in chorus – crucify the Orthodox Ukrainian Church, crucify them, kick out the Moscow priests. There is nothing in that phrase but slander, for which the law punishes," Archpriest Dimitri said.
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that the authorities banned the Church because they received permission from the USA.
