The Ministry of Culture has appointed Maksym Ostapenko as the General Director of the "Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra" National Reserve, reports telegraf.com.ua.

The publication emphasises that the newly appointed GD will "return" Lavra "to unconditional patriotism".

On the official website of the Reserve, Ostapenko is still referred to as acting General Director, and on the organisation's Facebook page, he has been written about without the prefix "acting" since 25 October.

As reported, the OCU head Dumenko presented awards to Maksym Ostapenko and his deputy Oleksandr Ovchar, who led the illegal seizure and sealing of the Lower Lavra's buildings and then closed the territory of the monastery to the UOC's clergy and parishioners and evicted the Kyiv Theological Academy and Seminary from the monastery.
