Pochaiv Lavra solemnly celebrates memory of St. Amphilochius

On January 1, on the feast day of St. Amphilochius of Pochaiv, two Liturgies, night and late, were held at the Holy Dormition Pochaev Lavra, night and late. After the late Liturgy, a cross procession took place, during which the relics of St. Amphilochius were brought from the Transfiguration Cathedral to the Cave Temple, where they always rest.

2021 marks the 50th anniversary of the blessed death of St. Amphilochius, the wonderworker of Pochaiv.
St. Amphilochius of Pochaev, in the world Yakov Golovatiuk, was born on November 27, 1894, in the village of Mala Ilovitsa, Ternopil region, died on January 1, 1971, in the Shumsky region, is an Orthodox monk and priest, who asceticised in the Pochaiv Lavra. During his lifetime, the saint was glorified for the gift of healings.
On April 23, 2002, the Holy Synod of the UOC glorified the Pochaiv elder-schema-hegumen Amfilochius as a saint.
On February 3, 2016, by the decision of the Council of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church, the general church veneration of St. Amphilochius was established.
As previously reported, a petition to seize the Pochaiv Lavra from the UOC appeared on the website of the Cabinet of Ministers.
