Republican U.S. presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswami stated during debates among Republicans in Miami that Ukraine is not a democratic country because its authorities persecute Christians. The politician's speech was published on the Breaking911 page.

"Do you want to use U.S. taxpayer money to fund the banning of Christians?" Ramaswami asked another Republican presidential contender, Nikki Haley.

"That is actually what is happening. They are using the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. They have banned them. The Ukrainian parliament just did it last week with the support of our dollars," Ramaswami stated, calling on his interlocutors to condemn the Ukrainian authorities "for banning their Christians."

Earlier, the UOJ reported that, according to Ramaswami, Ukraine is not a democratic country because the UOC is persecuted there.
