On 15 November 2023, Metropolitan Longin’s lawyer, Valentin Sukhar, who died as a result of poisoning, was buried, said a source in the Bancheny Monastery.
Information about the poisoning of the UOC bishop's lawyer was also reported on the Romanian TV channel Realitatea Plus. According to the presenter, Metropolitan Longin no longer has any lawyers – one was arrested and the other one was poisoned.
The monastery said that Valentin Sukhar had provided legal defence for Metropolitan Longin from the very beginning of his criminal prosecution by the authorities.
One of the Romanian TV channels called for a rally at the Ukrainian Embassy in Bucharest in support of Metropolitan Longin.
As earlier reported, MP Artem Dmytruk said that the armed law enforcers who committed lawlessness in the Bancheny monastery would be punished for it.
