On 16 November 2023, several dozen activists broke into the territory of the Monastery of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary of the UOC in Cherkasy, where the vicar of the Cherkasy Eparchy, Archbishop John of Zolotonosha, resides, as reported by Archpriest Anatoliy Chertopolokh, a spokesman for the Cherkasy Eparchy.
According to him, several dozen activists of the OCU entered the territory of the monastery, after which parishioners of the UOC came to the church territory.
Fr Anatoliy also noted that the police officers who arrived at the monastery did not prevent the attempted seizure of the shrine but only observed the actions of the OCU supporters.
As reported, in Luh in Transcarpathia, people in camouflage broke down the doors and seized the UOC church.
