The spokesperson of the OCU, Evstratiy Zoria, in an interview with "5 kanal", revealed that the upcoming draft law No. 8371, which proposes the ban on the UOC and was approved by the Verkhovna Rada in the first reading, is not only about the UOC.
According to Zoria, this is related to the influence of Russian religious structures on similar religious structures in Ukraine.
"The ideology of the 'Russian world' is characteristic not only of the Moscow Patriarchate. We see that both the main religious centers of Muslims, Protestant communities, and even Jewish communities are all extremely concentrated around this imperial ideology. They use their influence through the administrative ties between Ukrainian religious structures and Russian religious structures as a tool in hybrid warfare."
Therefore, he noted that the state has not only the right but also the obligation to prohibit religious organizations from submitting to Russian religious centers.
Evstratiy Zoria also stated that all religious organizations, except the UOC, support draft law No. 8371.
As the UOJ reported, the head of the human rights organization NGO Public Advocacy, Oleg Denisov, stated that the draft law No. 8371 on banning the UOC contains formulations that cannot be accepted in international law and indicate that this law violates human rights.
