Monuments to two Patriarchs – Paul of Serbia and Alexy II of Moscow – will be erected at the Mission of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Moscow, not far from the Kremlin, reports the “Sputnik Serbia” news agency.
According to the architects' plan, the two Patriarchs will stand side by side facing the Church of Saints Peter and Paul and symbolically slightly turned to face each other. It is noted that the first monument to the 44th head of the Serbian Church is planned to be opened at the end of 2021. Its creation has already begun, and part of it will be made in Ukraine.
“The construction of the monument to Patriarch Pavel continues, and it will be the work of a Russian sculptor. Part of the monument is produced in Russia, part – in Ukraine, therefore, if the epidemiological situation allows, the monument will have been unveiled by the end of this year,” reports the agency. Funds have already been allocated for the construction of a monument to Patriarch Pavel, permission from Patriarch Kirill and the city authorities of Moscow has been received.
As reported, a monument to St. Simeon the Myrrh-streaming was opened in Belgrade.
