Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church and head of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity Kurt Koch said that Pope Francis liked the proposal of the Permanent Representative of the Patriarchate of Constantinople to the World Council of Churches (WCC), Archbishop Job (Getcha) of Telmessos to reform the Orthodox calendar for a joint celebration of Easter with Catholics by 2025, reports the resource Katholisch.de.

It is noted that an incentive in this direction may be the fact that in 2025 Easter in both the Eastern and Western Churches have a common date. The Phanar hierarch said, "This is a good opportunity to remind Christians of the need for calendar reform." Cardinal Koch, in turn, noted that although it will not be easy to set a common date for Easter, it is worth doing.

As reported, the Phanar hierarch said that the Orthodox have no problems recognizing the primacy of Rome.
