On 26 January 2024, despite the rain and cold wind, the clergy and laity of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church continued to pray for the monastery and peace in Ukraine near the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
"Despite such weather, despite the rain, we came under the walls of the holy Lavra to lift our prayers to the Lord God, to the Most Holy Mother of God, to all the Kyiv Caves saints, so that the saints would beseech the Lord and His Mother, the Most Holy Theotokos, to cover our land, all our people," one of the priests said in a comment to the Telegram channel “Myriany” ("Laity"). “And may God grant that soon peace, prosperity, and the flourishing of our state reign in our land.”
Another priest, Fr John Sverediuk, during his sermon, expressed the hope that every time the faithful pray near the Lavra, the Lord allows them to "feel the grace that the venerable Fathers of the Caves were endowed with".
As reported, on January 25, in cold and rainy weather, believers prayed at the Lavra for the liberation of the monastery, access to which was closed almost six months ago.
