Metropolitan Theodosiy of Cherkasy addressed the faithful from the hospital ward where he got after a heart attack as a result of the SBU’s actions. The video message was published by the press service of the Eparchy on the YouTube channel "Cherkasy Blahovisnyk".

The bishop said that all the current persecution of the Church is "the cross that the Lord has laid on our Church and without which our salvation would be impossible".

Commenting on the SBU searches and the new case against him, the Metropolitan said that it was opened following a denunciation by one of the former clergymen of the Cherkasy Eparchy based on the hierarch's sermon to the sisters and parishioners of the Nativity of the Mother of God Monastery. Based on this sermon, the law enforcers petitioned for the Metropolitan's detention in a pre-trial detention centre.

After the bishop's video address, the press service posted a recorded sermon to the sisters of the raided Nativity of the Mother of God Monastery, for which the SBU opened a new criminal case against the Metropolitan of Cherkasy. The sermon, delivered to the parishioners of the monastery after the liturgy, was held in an adapted room.

As earlier reported, Metropolitan Theodosiy was hospitalised after new searches by the SBU.
