It becomes known when Rada will adopt bill on UOC in the second reading
Voting on the bill banning the UOC in the second reading may take place on 20 March 20 2024, reports an insider in the Verkhovna Rada.
According to him, the authorities are already prepared to bring the bill for consideration by the parliament, as they have found a sufficient number of votes to pass the bill.
Furthermore, on the same day, members of parliament intend to introduce a bill on mobilization in the session hall to "counteract dissatisfaction" among the population with news of the Church's ban.
On 5 March 2024, the Rada Committee approved the bill on the UOC for adoption in the second reading. The modified draft law provides for sanctions against denominations propagating the "Russian world", the prohibition of the Russian Orthodox Church, and "transparent contacts" of religious organizations with the Russian Orthodox Church.
As reported, an MP said the new version of the bill banning the UOC includes amendments from the Security Service of Ukraine, stipulating expanded powers for the liquidation of denominations.
