On March 24, 2024, after the service for Palm Sunday, Pope Francis, in St. Peter's Square in the Vatican, called on those gathered "not to forget in their prayers about suffering Ukraine, directing their thoughts to those who have been left without electricity due to recent shelling of infrastructure." This was reported by Vatican News.

"Let us pray for all our brothers and sisters affected by war; I particularly refer to the suffering Ukraine, where many people have been left without electricity due to intense shelling of infrastructure, which, in addition to causing death and suffering, carries the risk of an even greater humanitarian catastrophe," said the pontiff.

"Please, let us not forget about martyr Ukraine and also remember the very suffering Gaza and the numerous other places where war is ongoing," added the head of the Roman Catholic Church.

As the UOJ reported, the Pope called for negotiations to end the wars in Ukraine and Palestine.
