In Chernihiv, the Transfiguration Cathedral, from which the UOC community was expelled in October 2023, will operate as a museum, reports Suspilne.

The museum is planned to open by June 28. This initiative aims to gather funds for the restoration of the temple.

During the preparatory and restoration works, there is an intention to involve the expertise of colleagues from the "St Sophia of Kyiv" Reserve. Representatives from this Reserve have already arrived in Chernihiv to sign a memorandum of cooperation. Chernihiv authorities state that the experience of Kyiv museum professionals can help avoid mistakes during the restoration and recovery of the cathedral.

As reported, on 25 December 2023, the "Ancient Chernihiv" Reserve, which expelled the UOC community from the Transfiguration Cathedral in October, allowed the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU) to use the premises.
