On June 19, 2024, Ternopil media outlets published several articles inciting hatred towards the clergy and believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Local journalists expressed indignation over the blessing of domes above the UOC church in the village of Lopushne near Pochaiv.
"The priest of the UOC-MP flew over the dome of the church in the Ternopil region to Russian-language religious songs," "creatively" reported the Ternopoliany website, commenting on the blessing of the domes by Metropolitan Serhiy of Ternopil and Kremenets.
Journalists from "Terminovo" also fuel animosity, referring to UOC clergy as "Moscow priests" and to Church Slavonic, the language in which the prayers were performed, as the "language of the occupier".
"People, along with the clergy, fervently sang religious songs in Russian," they added.
As reported by the UOJ, the Ministry of Culture's commissions were displeased with the modern renovations at the Pochaiv Lavra.
