From June 19 to 21, sessions were held in the Sloviansk City District Court of Donetsk Oblast concerning the case of Metropolitan Arseniy, the abbot of the Holy Dormition Sviatohirsk Lavra, as reported on the monastery's Telegram channel.

During the hearings, the prosecution's petition to extend Met. Arseniy's detention in a pre-trial detention center was considered. The 60-day detention period, set by the Zhovtnevy District Court in Dnipro on April 25, expires on June 22.

Metropolitan Arseniy participated in the sessions via video link.

On Friday, the court proceedings were held behind closed doors, but before they began, the brethren of the Sviatohirsk Lavra, the sisters of the Lavra’s sketes, and parishioners of the monastery managed to congratulate their abbot on his 56th birthday.

The session on June 21, Metropolitan Arseniy's birthday, lasted the entire day from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

No final decision was made by the court. The next session is scheduled for Monday, June 24.

As the UOJ previously reported, on June 19, 2024, the first session took place in the Sloviansk City District Court, where the court began considering the bishop's case on its merits.
