The Primate of the Orthodox Church of Antioch, His Beatitude Patriarch John X of Antioch and All the East congratulated His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine on his namesake day.

The text of the congratulatory letter dated June 27 was published on the website of the Department for External Church Relations (DECR) of the UOC.

“On the occasion of the feast of the Venerable and God-bearing Father Onuphrius, we congratulate Your Beatitude for you not only bear the name of this great luminary of the desert but also exude his humility, ceaseless prayers, patience and renunciation of earthly glories. We pray our Lord and God Jesus Christ grant Your Beatitude many years to guide His rational flock in Ukraine that has been entrusted to your worthy care,” wrote Patriarch John in his congratulations.

As Archpriest Nikolai Danilevich, the deputy head of the UOC DECR, explained on his TG channel, the Patriarch of Antioch did not manage to send congratulations to His Beatitude Onuphry on the very day of the feast as he was on a trip.

As a reminder, on June 25, 2021, the Ukrainian Orthodox Church celebrated the namesake day and the 50th anniversary of the monasticism of its Primate.
