The head of the UGCC, Sviatoslav Shevchuk, along with Alexander Drabinko, a former UOC metropolitan who joined the OCU, prayed and awarded medical workers on the Day of Remembrance of the Holy Great Martyr and Healer Panteleimon at the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ in Kyiv.
Before the joint prayer, Shevchuk and Drabinko did not realize their microphones were on and talked about the difficulties of hiring skilled personnel due to the mobilization of workers. During the conversation, Shevchuk admitted to hiding workers from mobilization. Their dialogue was broadcast live, but the segment was later cut from the recording.
The cut fragment before the prayer service:
Shevchuk:
"Now we need to finish building the iconostasis. The upper part. Most of the marble work is almost done. But it's difficult with these craftsmen. You know, they are all being mobilized."
Drabinko:
"Yes, I know, because we have the same situation. Workers. It seems like they are there, but they are all hiding."
Shevchuk:
"We even hide them a bit here. They live and board here."
Drabinko:
"Well, so what? I have workers too."
Shevchuk:
"Shall we pray?"
As the UOJ reported, the head of the UGCC, Sviatoslav Shevchuk, stated that according to "intelligence reports, he is among the top ten main targets of Russia for elimination." He mentioned this in response to a journalist's question about his personal experience of the war.
