American lawyer Robert Amsterdam has published a video on X, revealing that the UOJ journalists, who are illegally kept in pretrial detention, have sent a series of letters to US lawmakers.
"Today, we are sharing a series of letters written by illegally imprisoned Ukrainian journalists to US legislators, including Sen. JD Vance and others," wrote the international human rights advocate.
The video features a reading of a letter from UOJ journalist Valeriy Stupnitsky, in which he describes his unlawful persecution.
"The Ukrainian government's determination to harass and repress the UOC degrades the rule of law and harms national interests," Amsterdam added.
As reported by the UOJ, on 30 July 2024, another hearing took place at the Solomiansky District Court in the case of UOJ journalist Valeriy Stupnitsky. The journalist's lawyer filed a recusal request for the judge due to alleged bias.
