On August 21, 2021, at the prayer standing against the arrival of Patriarch Bartholomew to the country, the leader of the NGO "Miriane" Vasily Makarovsky explained why the UOC believers gathered under the walls of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, reports "Pershy Nezalezhny".

Vasily Makarovsky said that on August 20, Patriarch Bartholomew arrived in Ukraine and met with President Zelensky at night, after which "an official statement was made that they had agreed on further cooperation".

“That is, the state has agreed with the Patriarchate of Constantinople on further cooperation. We do not know what kind of cooperation it could be ... Although now I’m standing here and see these terrible pictures of the seizure of hundreds of churches of our brothers and sisters," said Makarovsky.

According to him, it is for this reason that the UOC believers of the UOC do not need to be asked why they came to the prayer standing before the Verkhovna Rada. “We do care what our Ukraine, our state and the future of our Church will be like,” stressed the leader of the NGO “Miriane”.

As reported, the leader of the NGO "Miriane" Vasily Makarovsky read out an appeal of the UOC believers to the Phanar head near the Verkhovna Rada.
