On September 15, 2024, with the blessing of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine, Rector of the Kyiv Theological Academy and Seminary Archbishop Sylvester of Bilohorodka, along with Bishop Sofian of Brașov, vicar of the Metropolis of Germany, Central, and Northern Europe of the Romanian Orthodox Church, celebrated the Divine Liturgy on the occasion of the patronal feast of the Exaltation of the Cross Church in Munich (Romanian Orthodox Church), reports the Synodal Information and Education Department of the UOC.

Archbishop Sylvester was accompanied by Archdeacon Nikodim (Shevchuk), the head of the Kyiv Theological Academy and Seminary’s office. Translation services were provided by Oleksandr Vorobyov, a graduate of the Kyiv Theological Academy and a student at the University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt.

After the service, Archbishop Sylvester congratulated the parish on the patronal feast and spoke about the life of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church amid ongoing Russian military aggression. Bishop Sofian of Brașov, in turn, expressed gratitude to His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry for the opportunity for fraternal communication and highlighted the prayerful support of the Romanian Orthodox Church for the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

As reported by the UOJ, Archbishop Sylvester (Stoychev) previously explained why a harsh criticism of the Ecumenical Patriarchate was expressed at the Council of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Feofania on May 27, 2022.
