Patriarch Bartholomew to the new UGCC cardinal: "Glory to Ukraine!"

The new cardinal of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC), Mykola Bychok, arrived in Sydney the day after his proclamation by Pope Francis to participate in a ceremony conferring a Doctor of Theology degree to Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople. This was reported by catholicukes.au.

After the ceremony, Mykola Bychok met with the head of the Phanar and thanked him "for the unwavering support that the Ecumenical Patriarchate provides to Ukraine in its quest for a just peace." "Patriarch Bartholomew responded loudly: 'Glory to Ukraine!'" the publication reports.

As reported by the UOJ, the Pope appointed the UGCC bishop as a cardinal. This honor was granted to Mykola Bychok from the Melbourne Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (Australia).
