October 17, 2024, Metropolitan Theodosiy of Cherkasy and Kaniv recorded a video message to the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew following the second attempt to seize the Archangel Michael Cathedral in Cherkasy. The Metropolitan urged the Patriarch to intervene and stop the lawlessness being carried out on Ukrainian soil.

Metropolitan Theodosiy reminded the Patriarch of his visit: "I was your guest. At that time, I was amazed by your hospitality, simplicity in communication, and seemingly your desire to help all Orthodox believers. But as a result of your actions, now our Ukrainian Orthodox Church is suffering."

The Metropolitan accused the supporters of the Ecumenical Patriarch, the "legalized schismatics", of violence against UOC believers, seizure of churches and monasteries, and support for laws aimed against the UOC. "Your spiritual children beat us, they seize our churches, plunder our monasteries, and lobby for laws to ban our Church," emphasized the UOC hierarch.

In conclusion, the ruling bishop of the Cherkasy Eparchy called on Patriarch Bartholomew to use his power to stop the ongoing lawlessness: "Order your spiritual children to stop! Do not abuse the faithful if your children consider themselves Orthodox. This is within your power!"

As reported by the Union of Orthodox Journalists, in Cherkasy, unidentified men in camouflage uniforms attempted, on their second attempt, to seize a UOC cathedral.
