American Diocese of ROCOR expresses support for UOC and Met Theodosiy

The clergy of the Chicago and Mid-American Diocese expressed support for Metropolitan Theodosiy of Cherkasy in connection with the violent seizure of St Michael's Cathedral of the UOC in Cherkasy, reports chicagodiocese.org.

On 20-21 October, the annual autumn meeting of the clergy of the Chicago and Mid-America Diocese of ROCOR in the United States was held at St. Jonah of Manchuria Orthodox Church in Spring, Texas. The meeting was led by Archbishop Peter of Chicago and Mid-America.

The meeting adopted a document in which, in addition to the main issues, the clergy of the diocese expressed their support for Metropolitan Theodosiy “on the violent seizure of his cathedral”.

The clergy also condemned "the ongoing confiscation of other holy sites that are under the omophorion of Metropolitan Onuphry".

“We urge the faithful to pray for all Orthodox Christians enduring war and persecutions throughout the world,” the document said.

As reported by the UOJ, the head of the Malankara Church of India supported Metropolitan Theodosiy.
