On October 26, 2024, during the Liturgy at the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Romanian Orthodox Church in Bucharest, held in honor of the feast of the Great Martyr Demetrius, Archbishop Georgios of the Cypriot Orthodox Church, concelebrating with hierarchs and clergy of the Romanian Orthodox Church, commemorated Epifaniy Dumenko, head of the OCU, as Metropolitan of Kyiv.
As previously reported by UOJ, in 2020, the Romanian Orthodox Church announced its support for granting autocephaly to the entire Ukrainian Orthodox Church, rather than just the newly formed OCU.
In 2020, the Holy Synod of the Cypriot Orthodox Church, by majority vote, supported Archbishop Chrysostomos’s decision to commemorate Epifaniy Dumenko.
