Pat. Bartholomew to meet with Biden and head of State Department in USA

In the United States, Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople will meet with top officials of the state, including President Joe Biden and UN Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

The details of the visit announced for October 23 - November 3, 2021, were published by the "Orthodox Times".

The third official visit of Patriarch Bartholomew and his accompanying delegation to the United States is to begin in Washington, where he has scheduled "meetings, luncheons and official dinners". He then will visit several states, where he will take part in various events. The trip will end with a luncheon at the headquarters of the Greek Archdiocese of America on November 3.

Among those with whom the head of the Phanar will meet are the President of the United States, Joe Biden, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Ambassador of Greece to the United States Alexandra Papadopoulou, and Turkish Ambassador to the United States Hasan Murat Mercan. In addition, as part of the visit, the Patriarch of Constantinople will give an award to Mike Pompeo, the former US Secretary of State.

Patriarch Bartholomew has not been to the United States for a long time, and his official visit has been constantly postponed. At the same time, he has already met several times with Catholic Biden, who is called a friend of the Patriarchate of Constantinople and Hellenism in the White House in the Greek Archdiocese of America.
