Viktor Yelensky, head of the State Service of Ukraine for Ethnopolitics and Freedom of Conscience, expressed confidence that the Sviatohirsk Holy Dormition Lavra will eventually become a symbol of Ukrainian spirituality, similar to what happened with the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. This was reported on the agency's website.
According to Yelensky, recently the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra has undergone significant changes, transforming from a center of the "Russian world" into an important "spiritual symbol of Ukraine". He added that similar processes will take place at the Sviatohirsk Lavra.
Ihor Saletsky, director of the communal institution "Administration of the State Historical and Architectural Reserve in Sviatohorsk," reported that the territory of the Sviatohirsk Lavra includes about 30 objects, six of which were damaged as a result of hostilities.
As reported by the UOJ, in 2019, in Vinnytsia, another trial took place for Ihor Saletsky – the head of the Department for Nationalities and Religions Affairs of the Vinnytsia Regional State Administration – who is suspected of illegally re-registering religious communities of the Vinnytsia eparchy of the UOC to the OCU.
