Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree enacting the National Security and Defense Council decision to revoke state awards from individuals who betrayed Ukraine. The list includes former Ukrainian politicians, officials, artists, and Patriarch Kirill, according to the official website of the President's Office.
The measures include not only the revocation of state awards but also the freezing of assets, annulment of licenses and permits, and a complete cessation of trade operations..
Patriarch Kirill, head of the Russian Orthodox Church, was stripped of the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise, First Degree. It will be reminded that in 2013, then-President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych awarded Patriarch Kirill this order on the occasion of the 1025th anniversary of the Baptism of Rus, as stated in the presidential decree.
As previously reported by the UOJ, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, during his address to the Verkhovna Rada, announced the continuation of the state’s dialogue with all churches in the country except the UOC, which he referred to as the "Moscow Church".
