On January 15, 2025, a meeting of the commission on renaming streets and other names of Russian origin, as well as the removal or partial removal of communist symbols from historical and cultural monuments in the Ovidiopol territorial community, took place, reports Alternatyva.

The commission decided to invite representatives of the religious organization “Ukrainian Orthodox Church” from the territorial community to discuss the status of the process to renounce the Charter of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus’, which the UOC received from Patriarch Alexy II on October 27, 1990.

Additionally, it was proposed to invite a representative of the UOC Diocese from Odessa, as the Ovidiopol authorities believe such issues are addressed in Odessa.

As previously reported by the UOJ, the Volyn Regional Council called for "preventive measures" to be taken with UOC believers.
