SPRINGFIELD, VA—The Holy Synod of Bishops of the Orthodox Church in America (OCA) has confirmed the appointment of Archpriest Alessandro Margheritino as Chancellor of the Church.
Fr. Alessandro was nominated by Metroplitan Tikhon during a special teleconference on May 21, 2025, with the Metropolitan Council unanimously endorsing the nomination. Fr. Alessandro succeeds Archpriest Alexander Rentel, who served from 2019 until his recent appointment as Rector of Three Hierarchs Chapel at St. Vladimir’s Seminary.
Fr. Alessandro brings years of pastoral and administrative experience to the role, having served as OCA Secretary and Acting Chancellor since January. His academic background includes a Doctor of Ministry from St. Vladimir’s, where his thesis focused on conciliar governance in the Church.
“Fr. Alessandro is certainly no stranger to us,” said Metropolitan Tikhon, highlighting his faithful service at the Chancery and presenting him with the Chancellor’s Cross. “We welcome him officially with joy and confidence in his leadership.”
In his remarks, Fr. Alessandro emphasized humility, service, and the mission of the OCA in North America. “This is not a position of prominence, but of service—service to the whole Church,” he said.
He and his wife, Anna, a graphic designer at St. Vladimir’s Seminary, live in Northern Virginia with their two children. Fr. Alessandro serves as rector of All Saints of America Church in Alexandria, VA.
