Eikon App Reinstated to Google Play Store

June 11, 2025 — On Tuesday evening, the developers of the Eikon Prayer App announced that their appeal was successful and that the app had been reinstated to the Google Play Store after recently being removed.

As reported by UOJ on May 31, the developers had received an email noting that their account had “been terminated due to prior violations of the Developer Program Policies and Developer Distribution Agreement.”

Speaking to UOJ-America, the developers said, "the only email we had received before [the termination—Ed.] was a congratulatory email from Google saying we were ranked #3 in the U.S. in our app category."

In the original article from UOJ, it was shared that the app had received more 12,000 downloads with nearly 50 five-star reviews.

After asking app users and those who were concerned with the decision to keep them in their prayers, the official Instagram page for the app shared on Tuesday night that those prayers had been effective.

“Ultimately, we were reinstated because of your prayers,” an Instagram story said. “Thank you! Your support is humbling.”

The developers also said that they relied heavily on the prayers of St. John Maximovitch.

Unfortunately, when pursuing answers on why the app was initially taken down so they could prevent it from happening again, the developers did not receive an explanation.

Regardless, the reinstating of the app is a win for Orthodox Christians in the digital age, and the developers shared that they can now shift their focus to improving the app and adding more features.
