PITTSBURGH — Construction of the new Metropolis Center for the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America’s Metropolis of Pittsburgh is making impressive strides, with several key milestones reached this week. The inner dome has been received and installed with a perfect fit, dramatically transforming the building’s look. Additional progress includes installation of the gas line to the street, relocation of utility poles to accommodate future parking areas, and framing of the curved altar ceiling.
Other construction highlights include near-complete wall insulation, installation of roof drains, completion of terrace concrete work, and continued masonry on the bell tower. Crews have also finished framing the main entrance and reception area, continued window and door installation, and poured footers for the residence despite challenging bedrock conditions. Foundation block walls are now underway.
With projected completion expected in Fall 2025, the final stretch of the public fundraising campaign is now underway. Supporters are encouraged to make a pledge or donation to help bring the vision of the new Metropolis Center to life.
Donations can be made through the Online Pledge Form, the Online Giving Form, or by mailing a check to:
