In further commemoration of St. Tikhon of Moscow, as this year marks a century since his repose, Matthew Namee of the Orthodox Studies Institute recently offered a lecture on the great saint who built Orthodox parishes and promoted English-language church services in the U.S.

Done in collaboration with the Russian History Museum, the talk looks at the legacy and personal trials of the beloved bishop during his time in America.

The video was posted to the Russian History Museum's YouTube page on July 25, 2025.

Earlier this year, the St. Tikhon’s Monastery welcomed hundreds of pilgrims for its 121st annual Memorial Day Pilgrimage, presided over by His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon. The gathering commemorated the enduring legacy of Orthodox faith in North America and marked the 100th anniversary of the repose of St. Tikhon of Moscow.

Commemorations of Orthodox history in the States will continue later this year, as Orthodox faithful will gather at St. Seraphim of Sarov Cathedral for a one-day conference titled “The Story of Orthodoxy at Fort Ross: Then and Now,” marking the centennial anniversary of the first Orthodox pilgrimage to Fort Ross in 1925.
