AUG. 4, 2025 — In support of Sunday Church school directors, the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Education Ministry has released new Lesson Launch resources to accompany this year’s curriculum, "A People Set Apart," based on the Book of Exodus.
The resources are designed for directors hosting beginning-of-the-year teacher meetings and include three adaptable workshop activities:
- Introductory Video – Fr. Nick Belcher and Anna-Sarah Farha share the history of the archdiocesan curriculum, themes from Exodus, and a reflection on the sacred calling of church school teachers.
- The Fruits of Our Ministry – A collaborative reflection activity for directors and teachers to discuss the unique role of Sunday school in parish life.
- Exodus Directors’ Lesson Plan – A 30-minute session introducing key themes of "A People Set Apart," formatted like student lesson plans.
Printable materials include a full-color ministry calendar and an infographic explaining the archdiocesan Sunday church school curriculum.
This year’s theme, drawn from Exodus 6:7—“I will take you as My people, and I will be your God”—invites students to encounter the God who delivers, guides, and dwells among His people, pointing to Christ as the true Deliverer. Lessons for grades K–12 and adults feature hands-on activities, crafts, prayers, and age-appropriate reflections.
For more information and resources, directors may visit the Christian Education Ministry webpage or contact Director Anna-Sarah Farha at aodce@antiochian.org. More information can also be found on the archdiocesan website.
Previously, UOJ reported that, from July 21–27, thousands of clergy, laity, and faithful of the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America gathered at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare for the 57th biennial Archdiocese Convention.
