CAIRO — On August 8, 2025, Major General Issam Khodr, Assistant Advisor to Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, oversaw a press interview with Theodoros II, Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, conducted by Egypt’s Prime Ministry Information Center. The interview, held at the Church of the Transfiguration of the Saviour in Port Said, spotlighted Egypt’s spiritual and cultural treasures, emphasizing the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate’s centuries-long presence.
The Patriarch spoke emotionally about the church, inaugurated in 1903, celebrating the Greek community’s contributions to its recent restoration. He described it as “a refuge of prayer and beacon of faith.” Theodoros II also announced upcoming cruises from Cyprus to Port Said, welcoming Orthodox faithful to visit the church, where the Greek community will offer heartfelt hospitality.
