CHERKASY — On September 7, 2025, the head of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU), Serhiy Dumenko, intends to hold a "liturgy" at the Archangel Michael Cathedral in Cherkasy, seized from the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC). In its structure, the church was called "garrison."
As reported, the seizure of the cathedral in 2024 became one of the bloodiest examples of the bandit actions of OCU militants in the entire history of "transitions." Hired thugs or provocateurs stormed the cathedral twice. They beat parishioners and Metropolitan Theodosiy with sticks, fired traumatic weapons in the cathedral, and inflicted severe injuries on the clergy and laity.
The seizure took place with the full support of local authorities led by Mayor A. Bondarenko.
