AKHMETA — Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and Speaker of Parliament Shalva Papuashvili visited the Alaverdi Monastery complex to review the progress of ongoing restoration. This was reported by UOJ's Georgian Bureau (UOJ-MZK).

The Alaverdi Monastery, one of Georgia’s most significant cultural and religious monuments, is currently in the active phase of rehabilitation. According to the official government portal, the National Agency for the Preservation of the Cultural Heritage of Georgia is overseeing restoration of the episcopal palace refectory and the Feikar-Khan palace.

The works include roofing of the cathedral dome, installation of a large bronze cross, repair of the episcopal palace and the western annex of the cathedral, as well as complete renewal of the roof of the antiquities repository.

During their visit, the Prime Minister and Speaker of Parliament, accompanied by representatives of the executive, legislative, and local authorities, inspected both the completed and ongoing stages of restoration.

Recently, Fr. David Jishkariani of the Georgian Apostolic Church spoke with UOJ-Georgia about the challenges and issues facing Georgia and the wider Christian world.
