VALJEVO — On Oct. 18, 2025, the Diocese of Valjevo in Serbia held a symposium in honor of St. Nikolai Velimirović. The great bishop, hailed as a "New Chrysostom" by St. John Maximovitch, is close to the hearts of Orthodox faithful around the world.

The event took place at the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office Hall in Valjevo and was divided into two sessions:

Morning session: Presentations by Deacon Dr. Ivica Čairović and Protodeacon Radomir Vrućinić.
Afternoon session: Lectures by Protopresbyter-Stavrophor Dr. Darko Đogo and Protodeacon Dr. Dragan Radić.

The following day, Sunday, Oct. 19, a Hierarchical Divine Liturgy was served at Lelić Monastery near Valjevo, where the relics of St. Nikolai rest.

St. Nikolai lived in the U.S. for the final decade of his life, teaching at seminaries such as St. Sava's, St. Tikhon's, and St. Vladimir's. He reposed at St. Tikhon's Monastery in South Canaan, Penn., in 1956, and a shrine remains in his room to this day. He was buried at the Monastery of St. Sava in Libertyville, Ill., with his relics later being translated to his hometown in Serbia.

Previously, UOJ reported that Antiochian Village is set to host the St. Raphael Pilgrimage Weekend.
