ELLWOOD CITY, PA — From Oct. 26–27, 2025, His Eminence Abp. Nathaniel and His Grace Bsp. Andrei of the Romanian Orthodox Episcopate of America (ROEA) visited the Orthodox Monastery of the Transfiguration in Ellwood City, Pa., to celebrate the first-ever Feast of St. Olga of Kwethluk, Wonderworker and Matushka of All Alaska, and St. Demetrius the New of Basarabi.

According to the ROEA's Facebook page, a highlight of the celebration was the veneration of a fragment of the holy relics of St. Olga of Alaska, brought from the Diocesan Center for the occasion.

On the evening of Oct. 26, Bsp. Andrei officiated the Vespers service in the presence of Abp. Nathaniel, assisted by several priests and deacons. The following morning, the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy was celebrated by Bsp. Andrei, again in the presence of Abp. Nathaniel and invited clergy.

The Orthodox Monastery of the Transfiguration, founded by Mother Alexandra (formerly Princess Ileana of Romania), continues her spiritual legacy under the guidance of Mother Abbess Christofora and the dedicated sisterhood.

Previously, UOJ reported that Fr. Roman Braga of blessed memory was proposed for canonization during the 93rd Congress of the Romanian Orthodox Episcopate of America.
